We saw the Hewlett Packard (HP) PSC1210 all-in-one at Sam's Club for under $100. Both my wife and I have had HP color printers in the past, and we like the quality. As compared to the Canon/Apple printers we have had, they were built remarkabley well.
The HP PSC1210 is a combined scanner, and printer. That means that for one USB cord to your computer you can either scan or print. It also takes up less space on your desk. Additionally, you can bypass the PC and have the ability to make color copies directly from buttons on the top of the machine.
It also prints color photo-quality pictures with its 4800 dpi. I printed a few pictures of our baby for work, and they look like pictures from the photo developer.
